ABOUT

Created through the Make Room for What Matters project, this stunning installation was a collaborative public art venture, involving the local community to inform a design brought to life by internationally recognised street artist Smug. The mural has been formally titled “Keeper of Light” - reflecting the artist’s interpretation of the rich cultural life, community spirit and shared heritage of Glasgow’s Merchant City.

Commissioned by The Social Hub and delivered by Yardworks in partnership with the Merchant City & Trongate Community Council and Glasgow’s City Centre Mural Trail, the mural is one of the largest in Scotland.

This mural is in the heart of Glasgow's popular Merchant City where there is plenty to do for all, including a huge variety of restaurants and a Craft and Design Fair each Sunday 12-6pm in Merchant Square. It occupies the northern elevation of the Social Hub Glasgow, a multi-purpose property development offering hotel rooms, student accommodation, coworking and meetings & events spaces. The Butterflies in Her Eyes mural is also directly adjacent.
